LETHBRIDGE - The Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) website, www.chooselethbridge.ca, has received the Economic Development Association of Canada’s (EDAC) 2006 Marketing Award for best website in an economic organization with an annual overall budget between $200,001 and $600,000 dollars.
EDL CEO Cheryl Dick attended the awards presentation at the EDAC annual convention in Thunder Bay, Ontario on Monday, September 25. “It was very exciting to see the Choose Lethbridge brand up on the big screen in the banquet room when they announced the website winner in our category. There are many excellent economic development initiatives being done across the country so having our website featured as a best practice is a wonderful acknowledgement from our peers.”
The EDL website was redesigned in the spring of 2006 and since January has quadrupled in visitor traffic. It contains information for prospective business investors, current business owners (including an extensive section on labour force initiatives and employer resources) and will soon include a section on Convention & Event Development. The web site was developed by the Internet Solutions Group, based in Lethbridge, Alberta.
More than 235 submissions were received from across Canada for the annual EDAC Marketing Awards, which recognize 19 different types of marketing initiatives in three different budget categories. The awards are sponsored by RBC Financial Group, the Business Development Bank of Canada, Fluid Media Inc. and Canadian Business magazine.
EDAC is Canada’s national organization of economic development professionals, representing every province with more than 700 members.
Economic Development Lethbridge is a not-for-profit organization with a 24-member board representing industry and government organizations throughout Lethbridge and the surrounding area.
